School Board Election – (3rd Tuesday in April) April 21, 2026
To be held in: Irvington and Newark.

• Last day to file petitions  (50 days prior to election), March 2, 2026
• Last day for registration and transfer (21 days prior to election), March 31, 2026
• Last day to apply by mail for a Vote-By-Mail Ballot (7 days prior to election), April 14, 2026
• NOTE: The following Municipalities have moved their School Board Elections to the General Election in November: Belleville, Bloomfield, Caldwell, West Caldwell, Cedar Grove, Essex Fells, Fairfield, Glen Ridge, Livingston, Millburn, North Caldwell, Nutley, Orange, Roseland, South Orange/Maplewood, Verona, West Orange and the West Essex Regional School District. • Last day to file petitions for June Primary (71 days prior to election), March 23, 2026
• Last day for Party Declaration (55 days prior to election), April 8, 2026
• Last day for registration and transfer (21 days prior to election), May 12, 2026
• Last day to apply by mail for a Vote-By-Mail Ballot (7 days prior to election), May 26, 2026

General Election (1st Tuesday after 1st Monday in November) – November 3. 2026

• Last day to file Independent petitions, June 2. 2026
• Last day to file School Board Election petitions (last Monday in July), July 27, 2026
• Last day for registration and transfer (21 days prior to election), October 13, 2026
