PUBLIC NOTICE TO VOTERS OF ESSEX COUNTY

REGISTRATION OF VOTERS

Registration of voters for the FEBRUARY 5, 2026 – SPECIAL PRIMARY ELECTION will
be conducted at the Office of the Commissioner/Superintendent of Voter Registration, Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. Justice Building, 495 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Room #108, Newark,
New Jersey, 07102 or at the Municipal Clerk’s Office in the voter’s community, each weekday.
THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER OR TRANSFER FOR THE PRIMARIA ESPECIAL
ELECTION IS JANUARY 15, 2026.

EVENING REGISTRATION

For the convenience of the voter, the Office of the Commissioner/Superintendent of Voter
Registration will be open from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on January 15, 2026
The following Municipal Clerk’s Office will also be open until 9:00 P.M. on January 15, 2026.

REGISTRATION BY MAIL

Anyone wishing to register by mail can do so by requesting registration forms from the
Commissioner/Superintendent of Voter Registration, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Justice
Building, 495 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Room #108, Newark, New Jersey 07102, or by
calling (973) 621-5030 or (973) 621-5031.

VOTING REQUIREMENTS

To vote in the County of Essex, you must be a citizen of the United States, as of January 1, 2026,
and you will be 17 years of age by, February 5, 2026, Special Primary Election, you will be a
resident of the State and County 30 days before the election, and you are NOT currently serving
a sentence of incarceration due to a conviction for an indictable offense under any Federal or
State laws. Registration deadline is 21 days before the February 5, 2026 Special Primary
Election.

TRANSFER OF REGISTRATION

If you already completed a voter registration form for your new address, you will receive a
sample ballot in the mail. If you do not receive a sample ballot, follow the instructions below, or
call the Office of the Commissioner/Superintendent of Voter Registration at (973) 621-5031
before February 5, 2026 General Election Day.

ATTENTION VOTERS WHO HAVE MOVED

If you are a registered voter in a municipality of Essex County, moved to another district and or
municipality of the County but did not submit a change of address to the County
Commissioner/Superintendent of Voter Registration, you are entitled to vote in the Special
Primary Election, February 5, 2026, go to the polling place of your new residence. Provisional
Ballots will be available, but you should first confirm that you are a registered voter.
“Under New Jersey law you have the right to vote in privacy, to have a reasonable amount of
time to vote, to receive a replacement ballot if you spoil the first one, and to bring written
material into the polling place for your personal use.”
A “Voter’s Bill of Rights” will be prominently displayed at your polling place.
If you believe that your right to vote has been violated in any way, you should immediately
notify your County Board of Elections or County Commissioner/Superintendent of Voter
Registration.

ASSISTANCE FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Persons unable to vote at the polling place due to permanent or temporary physical disability
may request a Mail-In Ballot application by contacting the Office of the County Clerk at (973)
621-4923. The office of the Board of Elections may be contacted for information regarding
polling place assignments and assistance to voters who choose to vote at the polling place on
Election Day. The telephone number is (973) 621-5073.
Pursuant to the provisions of the “Voting Accessibility for the Elderly and Handicapped Act
1984” a telecommunications device for the deaf (TDD) is maintained at the Election Division,
Department of State, Trenton, New Jersey. Persons wishing to utilize this service to obtain
general information may do so by dialing 1-800-292-0039.

INSCRIPCIÓN DE ELECTORES

La inscripción de electores para las ELECCIONES PRIMARIAS ESPECIALES del 5 DE
FEBREO DE 2026 se llevará a cabo en la Oficina del Comisionado/Superintendente de
Registro de Votantes, Edificio de Justicia Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., 495 Dr. Martin
Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Sala #108, Newark, Nueva Jersey, 07102, o en la Oficina del
Secretario Municipal de la comunidad del elector, todos los días hábiles.

LA FECHA LÍMITE PARA INSCRIBIRSE O TRANSFERIRSE PARA LAS ELECCIONES
GENERALES ES EL 15 DE ENERO DE 2026.

REGISTRO NOCTURNO

Para la conveniencia del votante, la Oficina del Comisionado/Superintendente de
Registro de Votantes estará abierta de 4:00 P.M. a 9:00 P.M. el 15 de enero de 2026.
Las siguientes oficinas del Secretario Municipal también estarán abiertas hasta las 9:00
P.M. el 15 de enero de 2026.

REGISTRO POR CORREO

Cualquier persona que desee registrarse por correo puede hacerlo solicitando los
formularios de registro al Comisionado/Superintendente de Registro de Votantes,
Edificio de Justicia Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., 495 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Sala
#108, Newark, Nueva Jersey 07102, o llamando al (973) 621-5030 o (973) 621-5031.

REQUISITOS PARA VOTAR

Para votar en el condado de Essex, debe ser ciudadano de los Estados Unidos a partir del 1 de enero

de 2026, y tendrá 17 años de edad para el 5 de febrero de 2026, fecha de la Elección Primaria
Especial. Debe ser residente del Estado y del condado 30 días antes de la elección, y NO estar
cumpliendo actualmente una sentencia de encarcelamiento debido a una condena por un delito
procesable según las leyes federales o estatales. La fecha límite para registrarse es 21 días antes
de la Elección Primaria Especial del 5 de febrero de 2026.

TRANSFERENCIA DE REGISTRO

Si ya completó un formulario de registro de votante para su nueva dirección, recibirá
una boleta de muestra por correo. Si no recibe una boleta de muestra, siga las
instrucciones a continuación, o llame a la Oficina del Comisionado/Superintendente de
Registro de Votantes al (973) 621-5031 antes del 5 de febrero de 2026, Día de las
Elecciones Generales.

ATENCIÓN VOTANTES QUE SE HAN MUDADO

Si está registrado para votar en un municipio del condado de Essex, se trasladó a otro
distrito o municipio del condado pero no presentó un cambio de dirección al
Comisionado/Superintendente de Registro de Votantes del condado, tiene derecho a
votar en la Elección Primaria Especial del 5 de febrero de 2026, acuda al lugar de
votación de su nueva residencia. Habrá boletas provisionales disponibles, pero primero
debe confirmar que está registrado para votar.
"Según la ley de Nueva Jersey, usted tiene derecho a votar en privado, a disponer de un
tiempo razonable para votar, a recibir una boleta de reemplazo si arruina la primera, y a
llevar material escrito al lugar de votación para su uso personal."
Una “Declaración de Derechos del Votante” se exhibirá de manera destacada en su
lugar de votación.
Si cree que su derecho al voto ha sido violado de alguna manera, debe notificar
inmediatamente a la Junta Electoral de su condado o al Comisionado/Superintendente
de Registro de Votantes del condado.

ASISTENCIA PARA PERSONAS CON DISCAPACIDAD

Las personas que no puedan votar en el lugar de votación debido a una discapacidad
física permanente o temporal pueden solicitar una solicitud de boleta para votar por
correo contactando a la Oficina del Secretario del Condado al (973) 621-4923. Para
obtener información sobre la asignación de lugares de votación y asistencia a los

votantes que elijan votar en el lugar de votación el día de las elecciones, se puede
contactar a la oficina de la Junta Electoral. El número de teléfono es (973) 621-5073.
De conformidad con las disposiciones de la "Ley de Accesibilidad al Voto para
Personas Mayores y Discapacitadas de 1984", se mantiene un dispositivo de
telecomunicaciones para sordos (TDD) en la División de Elecciones, Departamento de
